Abstract:

This chapter will explore aspects of socio-emotional intelligence with a focus on academics and why it is important for them to consider it as part of their personal development journey. It will emphasise the importance of developing self-awareness to role model the attitudes and behaviours that will support and engage students on their learning journey. The chapter will also explore self-confidence and self-compassion and provide useful examples and ideas on how to apply SEI successfully to enable academics to flourish and to support their students to flourish too.
