Abstract:

This chapter will begin by providing a rationale for this edited collection. It will then define flourishing and explore Humanising practice, which is the golden thread throughout this book. The chapter will then introduce the adapted Humanising HE Framework and the Humanising Practice model to provide a context for the rest of the book. The last part of this chapter will describe the three parts of this book, explaining that the first part will explore academic identity, the second part will delve into the craft of teaching, and the third part will identify the different types of support and prosocial environments that academics need to flourish in their role.
