Abstract:

A general overview of the types of architecture that are being developed for a unified architecture for telecommunications service is presented. The specific issue or how mobility may be incorporation within the framework is then considered. The discussion is based upon the work of the ACTS DOLMEN (Service Machine for an Open Long-term Mobile and Fixed Network Environment) project as a means of illustrating the Service Architecture concept and demonstrating a way of implementing a solution to the mobility considerations.
