Biography
Maynard Manyowa's thesis, titled, 'The government, the internet and the press' looks at the information war inside his native Zimbabwe and how citizen journalism interacts with professional journalism and state actors.
Maynard is an award winning professional journalist with 15 years' experience. He is a documentary film maker. He has a Masters in Documentary Journalism from Nottingham Trent University. Within the UK, his work is featured in national titles like the Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Express and The Voice. His work also appears in 37 regional titles across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He has two documentaries on the BBC World Service and BBC.
Before moving to the UK, Maynard's work was featured in some of the biggest media organisations in Africa and the US. His research interests are in digital technologies, their impact on journalism culture and practise, and the future of ethical reporting.
Maynard brings incredible expertise and experience into the academic field of journalism... His vision is to marry the academic and the practical.
Maynard currently undertakes part-time teaching as he continues his development into academia. He has previously delivered journalism training at Nottingham Trent University, at universities in Malawi and now at Bournemouth University.
