Biography
Lia joined the Business School in 2016 and served as the Head of Education and Professional Practice at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality.
Lia has long teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and from different cultural contexts as she has worked in Greece, Bahrain, Switzerland, France and the UK. She has worked in the hospitality industry as well in Greece and the UK.
She gained her PhD in HRM from Strathclyde University in 2012. Since then, she has served as Head of department at various academic institutions in Greece, Switzerland, Bahrain and the UK.
Her research interests focus on women in hospitality management, leadership as well as talent management and AI in HRM. On these research areas she has published a book, book chapters, journal articles and has presented at international conferences. She has also worked on European funded projects as project leader with focus on vocational training in hospitality and tourism. Moreover, she has trained a number of professionals in the industry in Lifelong Learning programmes on Emotional Intelligence, Customer Service and Managing People...
Dr. Lia is an established thought leader in HRM with focus on gender issues, gender equality and talent management. She is also known for her expertise on academic quality assurance, for which she got an award from the NAQQAET (Bahrain), she serves as expert panel member at various validations on behalf of the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, and she is a Member of the Advisory Board for Future Talent Council (FTC).
