Biography

Natalie is based at the Centre for Seldom Heard Voices. She specialises in creative, participatory and qualitative research, with a focus on understanding how people experience and navigate social organisations, services and systems. Her work draws from anthropology and human geography to understand what ‘matters’ in people’s everyday lives – specifically those things that are valued, prioritised or considered significant for wellbeing and quality of life. This focus on mattering frequently draws her to work on the disparities between policy priorities and the lived experiences of those who lack visibility or are seldom heard. She is particularly interested in working with vulnerable or marginalised groups, disenfranchised communities, and children and young people. Her current work 'Waiting Well' explores the pre-diagnosis experiences of informal carers supporting someone with dementia symptoms.

Natalie prioritises ethnographic methods and the development of creative and participatory approaches...
