Biography
Jill is a Senior Academic in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences. Her current role reflects her extensive experience as a nurse educator. She is a registered nurse with many years experience practising in a range of healthcare settings which include critical care and practice nursing. Her work as a nurse educator has primarily focused on undergraduate pre-registration nursing. When she joined Bournemouth University in 1994 she initially developed the Clinical Simulation Laboratory suite and lead a team who support students learning essential nursing skills. From 2006-2011 she acted as Programme and then Framework Lead for the BSc (Hons) Nursing programmes and is an experienced Academic Advisor.
Jill’s research interests focus on student nurses’ experiences of their journey to becoming a registered nurse. This includes their learning in practice particularly in their final placement and how they become competent, caring professional practitioners equipped and able to cope with the challenges that current healthcare present.
