Biography

Dr Martyn Polkinghorne has a PhD in Knowledge Management and Decision Making using Artificial Intelligence, and is recognised in academic publications as being the developer of the first commercially available intelligent ship autopilot system.

At Bournemouth University, he is currently a Visiting Fellow following a period as an Associate Professor in Business and Management operating from within the Business School. He was previously in the Department of Marketing, Strategy and Innovation (MSI) and the Department of People and Organisations (PAO). He was seconded for several years to the Centre for Fusion Learning Innovation and Excellence within the Vice-Chancellor's Office to lead on academic innovation across the university as the Education Excellence Theme Leader.

Martyn was Director of the Help to Grow Management Programme. He was previously the Head of Education for the Department of People and Organisations (P&O) and before that he was the Head of Education for the Department of Leadership, Strategy and Organisations (LSO), both within the Business School, with responsibility for the business and management portfolio of undergraduate courses...
